Obituary for Ernest L Whalon

WHALON,
ERNEST “ERNIE” 1928-2022
Ernie passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 18, two days prior to his 94th birthday. He was a resident of Cherry Hill, NJ, formerly of Cheltenham, PA. He was born to Leslie and Lillian (nee Barsuglia).

He was a graduate of LaSalle University. Ernie proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Ernie entered the insurance industry in 1954. He started his own firm, Butrus & Whalon in 1973. He continued to work until March 2020.

During his career he was the past president of CPCU Society of Philadelphia, past president of Risk Insurance Management Society of Philadelphia, past president of Insurance Society of Philadelphia and past president of Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America.

Ernie enjoyed summers at his home in Stone Harbor with his family. He was an avid reader and loved watching the Phillies. Ernie and his wife loved to travel extensively.

Ernie is survived by his loving wife Florence (nee Nacchio) and his children Bill, Ellen (Joe), Dan (Debbie), and Bob (Megan). His stepchildren Linda (Andy), Lori (Mac), and Lisa (Rich). Adoring grandfather of 10 and great grandfather of 11. Ernie is predeceased by his first wife Aida (nee Cirotti), daughter Margie and grandson Danny Bennis. Brother of Ed, Elaine Bailey, and Robert.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Friday Eve, June 24th at 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bradely Funeral home, 601 Route 73 S. Marlton, NJ 08053. Another viewing will be held on Saturday morning June 25th, at Holy Eucharist Catholic Church 344 Kresson Rd., Cherry Hill, NJ 08034 10 AM to 10:45 AM. Funeral Mass to begin at 11 AM.
