JAMES W., passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, June 10, 2022 at the age of 64. Beloved husband of Eva M. (nee Griffith); devoted father of Tamika (Eugene) Griffith-Johnson, Eugene Tilghman, James W. Jr. (Tara) Anderson, Candice Anderson, Charlene Caves and Charles Caves. Loving grandfather of Antwyne, Shazeem, Larry, Isis, Jah, Seaira, Jim Jim, Lamir, Maximus, Kiki, Machai, Laraha and Lebron; great grandfather of Asaad. Son of Angeline Anderson and the late James W. Bryant and his second mother Alberta Owens, who preceded him in death. Dear brother of Gracie, Horace Lee, Angie, Arthur, William James and the late Barbara Jene, Albert and Doug; also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
James was born in Pine Hill, Alabama and moved to Philadelphia as a youth. He was an avid roller skater. James was a true Eagles fan, who also loved barbecuing with family and friends. He worked for Acme for twenty years and then for Dietz and Watson for fifteen years before retiring due to ongoing health issues.
Family was the most important thing in his life. Spending time with his loving wife and children. Playing with his grandchildren was the highlight of any day. He will be greatly missed by all.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and funeral Thursday morning, June 16th, 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. at Vincent Gangemi Funeral Home, Inc. 2232-2240 S. Broad St. (at Wolf St.) Funeral Services to Follow.
