Obituary for J. Brian Durkin

DURKIN,
J. BRIAN Esq., age 72, May17, 2022. Loving Companion of 20 yrs. to Mary Pollice. Son of the late Patrick H. and Catherine Durkin; brother of the late John Durkin and half brother of the late Gary Durkin. He is survived by his sister-in-law Fran (Dom) Durkin-Keating, half sister Diane LaFrance, many nieces and nephews including Jody (Maureen) Healy and Patrick (Julia) Durkin.

Brian grew up in Dunmore, Pa. and graduated from Dunmore High School. He attended the University of Scranton where he earned his undergraduate degree. After earning his graduate degree in American History from Catholic University in Washington, D.C., he worked at the Library of Congress for 7 yrs. before attending Temple Law School. He worked in private practice for many years before joining the Law Department for the City of Philadelphia in 2007 from which he retired in 2017.

Brian was a kind and gentle man who enjoyed American history, politics, the New York Yankees and Bruce Springsteen. He was an avid reader. He will be greatly missed by his cats Mickey and Mortie.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Sunday evening, May22nd from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Vincent Gangemi Funeral Home, Inc. 2232-2240 S. Broad St. (at Wolf St.)
There will be a viewing on Wed., May 25th at the Jennings Calvey Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. in Summit, PA.

Interment St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow, PA
